The Plextor M9Pe(G) is a solid-state drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, launched in 2018. It is available in capacities ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB. This page reports specifications for the 256 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Plextor M9Pe(G) interfaces using a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 connection. The SSD controller is the 88SS1093 Eldora from Marvell, a DRAM cache chip is available. Plextor has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the M9Pe(G), the flash chips are made by Toshiba. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are processed more quickly. The M9Pe(G) is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 3,000 MB/s and 1,000 MB/s write; random IOPS reach up to 180K for reads and 160K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 245 USD. The warranty length is set to five years, which is an excellent warranty period. Plextor guarantees an endurance rating of 160 TBW, a typical value for consumer SSDs.
