The HyperX Fury RGB is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on September 24th, 2018. It is available in capacities ranging from 240 GB to 960 GB. This page reports specifications for the 480 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the HyperX Fury RGB interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the 88SS1074 Dean from Marvell, a DRAM cache chip is available. HyperX has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the Fury RGB, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are absorbed more quickly. The cache is sized at 4 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 150 MB/s. The Fury RGB is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 480 MB/s write; random IO reaches 79K IOPS for read and 25K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 125 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. HyperX guarantees an endurance rating of 240 TBW, a typical value for consumer SSDs.
