The AMD Radeon R7 was a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on August 19th, 2014, that is no longer in production. It is only available in the 240 GB capacity listed on this page. With the rest of the system, the AMD Radeon R7 interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the Barefoot 3 M00 IDX500M00-B0 from Indilinx, a DRAM cache chip is available. AMD has installed MLC NAND flash on the Radeon R7, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The Radeon R7 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 530 MB/s write; random IO reaches 95K IOPS for read and 90K for writes.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 120 USD. The warranty length is set to four yearsAMD guarantees an endurance rating of 44 TBW, a relatively low value compared to other SSDs.
