Pwnage StormBreaker Review - Magnesium Mouse

Introduction

Pwnage Logo

Established in 2004, Pwnage is a US-based peripheral company. Traditionally, gaming mice are made out of ABS plastic, which is cost-effective and strikes a good balance between weight and rigidity. However, in the quest to reduce weight ever further, manufacturers have started to adopt Magnesium for gaming mice, which is the lightest structural metal. After the Finalmouse Starlight and Razer Viper Mini SE, Pwnage joins the ranks of Magnesium alloy mice with the StormBreaker. At 51 g, the StormBreaker indeed is exceptionally light, though holes had to be used generously to reach this weight as well. Another notable innovation is the adjustable sensor, which can be moved across the vertical axis according to one's preferences. In addition, the StormBreaker is capable of true 2000 Hz out of the box, and 4000 Hz wireless polling with the latest firmware. PixArt's latest PAW3395 sensor is used, coupled with Omron switches for the main buttons rated for 20 million clicks, and the feet are made of pure PTFE. Pwnage cites a battery life of up to 120 hours ("office usage"), but no details are provided which polling rate this applies to. Settings can be changed in the software, including CPI levels, as the StormBreaker lacks a dedicated CPI button. The StormBreaker is available in standard colors of black or white, along with several limited edition colorways.
