The Tesla M6 X2 Mobile was a professional mobile graphics chip by NVIDIA, launched on August 30th, 2015. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the GM204 graphics processor, in its GM204-995-A1 variant, the chip supports DirectX 12. The GM204 graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 398 mm² and 5,200 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce GTX 980, which uses the same GPU but has all 2048 shaders enabled, NVIDIA has disabled some shading units on the Tesla M6 X2 Mobile to reach the product's target shader count. Tesla M6 X2 Mobile combines two graphics processors to increase performance. It features 1536 shading units, 96 texture mapping units, and 64 ROPs, per GPU. NVIDIA has paired 16 GB GDDR5 memory with the Tesla M6 X2 Mobile, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface per GPU (each GPU manages 8,192 MB). The GPU is operating at a frequency of 930 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1180 MHz, memory is running at 1253 MHz (5 Gbps effective).
Being a mxm module card, the NVIDIA Tesla M6 X2 Mobile does not require any additional power connector, its power draw is rated at 100 W maximum. This device has no display connectivity, as it is not designed to have monitors connected to it. Rather it is intended for use in laptop/notebooks and will use the output of the host mobile device. Tesla M6 X2 Mobile is connected to the rest of the system using a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface.
