Asus Prime X670E-Pro, no sata drives.
With one Nvme on each chipset, it's 56/58°C, with two drives on each chipset it's 65/67°C. They run 4°C hotter when the gpu is hot(60+°C).
This is with fans barely running, if I turn them up or point a 92mm toward the chipset, it brings temp down around 4-6°C.

I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted 6 NMVe drives in this board, but from my research the B650E-E runs at 70+°C. My previous X370 chipset ran at 55-60°C too.

The truth about PCH temps is the more things you connect to the Chipset, the hotter it will run. My X670E E Strix is in the low 60s all the time. Of course I have only 1 SATA port left open so both chipsets are working. As a side note I had the same issue with my X570S Ace Max but since I made that into a Mining PC the chipset sits in the 40s.

With one Nvme on each chipset, it's 58-62 Celsius. With two drives each chipset it's about 10 Celsius warmer, so around 70C.

Which power plan do you prefer? Or just left as it is?

I understand that. Mine is RAID 0 SSD 4TB then I also have another 2 NVME in RAID 0 for 4TB and then the 3rd slot has the WD AN1500 that I frankenstiened from 1 TB to 4TB. The culprit could be the Controller on the WD AN 1500 but my room is a little warm with 3 PCs that are mining.

This obsession again? Lol

Things are generally getting warmer for both Intel and AMD. A quick web search brings up some warm PCH temps for both Z790 and AM5. The more stuff you connect to it, the warmer it will run probably.

My B650E usually runs in the 50-60C region. And that's on a tiny ITX heatsink, so if it's no factor for me, it should be no issue for you too.

The only difference is that unlike X570, no one is relying solely on active cooling anymore, so there's no longevity concern about clogged heatsinks and failing fans.

If you're really concerned about it, then just don't get X670 and X670E since they have dual PCH under their heatsinks. But that's still a stupid reason to lock yourself out of the expanded I/O that X670(E) offers.

I never would have thought that anyone would choose a platform based on PCH temperatures.
Ditch the maybe “better” platform for another because of lower PCH temp?
I mean …wtf?

And anything below 70C for chipset is more than ok.
My X570 (nonS) hovers around 50C (48-52C) with integrated fan always off, and it is buried under a 400W GPU.
System has 2x NVMe drives + 2 Sata3 drives. 1 of them is also under GPU.

The key is not only good air flow in general, like case fans. But what makes the most difference is when GPU is actually working and its own air flow is what heats or cools PCH. The more air flow GPU has the cooler PCH stays. Distribute the same amount of (GPU) heat into more air(flow) so the output air gets relatively cooler and can actually cool other nearby hotter components.
Thank god the nitro+ has quiet fans even up to 2000+ rpm. Avg GPU fans rpm during gameplay is typically around 1800 with my custom curve.

Also since I replace my old Corsair hydro AIO with an arctic freezer one, PCH temp dropped ~10C (was around 60C).
The old hydro used Corsair Link and had a USB cable connected from block to internal USB2.0 header and through this you could have AIO metrics (water temp, fan/pump rpm) to iCUE, HWiNFO.

Not really, when the max operating temp is 90+C
Silicon chip itself may withstand that kind of temperature, while the tiny little soldering joints may not. After some heating and cooling cycles the joints will deteriorate which eventually need for reballing. That is my main concern.

There are solders rated for that. This isn't the Xbox 360.

PCH temp is not my concern, even when encoding.
My concern is the CPU temp at idle. 55C at idle with 360mm AIO, due to IOD hotspot. I know my AIO is not bad as all the Cores sit below 40C.

Temps, on idle

PCH temp is not my concern, even when encoding.
My concern is the CPU temp at idle. 55C at idle with 360mm AIO, due to IOD hotspot. I know my AIO is not bad as all the Cores sit below 40C.

Temps, on idle

Interesting...
I guess there is a lot of data traffic through the IOD and DRAM in general (but at idle?)
If you could show the entire CPU Enhanced section it would be more clear, maybe.
Better show the whole thing so we can see it all, maybe spot something

55 and 53c for the two chips on my X670E taichi which has been running encoding nonstop for weeks. VRM sits at a chilly 43c and CPU at 72c under this load. Chipset fan never turns on.

This is with all the M.2 slots occupied with the primary being a T700 4TB PCIe 5.0 and two 15.36TB enterprise drives that never idle. Literally worse case scenario and temps are not even remotely a concern.
