EATX this one too ... bye-bye ASRock. Since my Z690 Taichi (ATX) cold not manage my 4080 I already went for the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E.

IMHO it is a Z690 Taichi specific problem (what a lucky guy would I be). The Z690 PG Velocità got a BIOS update specific for the GPU 40XX series compatibility, while the Taichi has not, yet. I'll probably try a Z790 soon.

Unfortunately, even the beta bios does not solve the problem with the setting on "Normal" while everything works well with the setting on "Prefer Max Performance". I wrote back to ASRock support describing the workaround. Let's see what they say about it. Anyway, thanks again!

So, prey for me: I've just received a beta bios directly from ASRock. I'll let you know if it works.

Thank you all again for your help. Yes, I can live with 30W at idle. The GPU temp at idle with those values is 32-34C° deg (room at 25-26C°) and about 8C° more for the hotspot. Generally, the GPU/fan run very silent and almost never above 60-65° even under stress. I guess I'll keep it this...

AusWolf, I forgot to mention that those idle values are with Max Perf on. And yes, I changed from a 6900 XT but I did a clean install after a full DDU.
